Care and Capacity cards are a practical tool designed to assess an individual’s cognitive capacity by identifying strengths and weaknesses in short- and long-term memory. Aimed at adults and older individuals, each card presents a relatable scenario with a question that prompts the user to recall relevant information. These cards are particularly useful in evaluating a person’s ability to manage daily tasks, such as personal safety, financial responsibilities, and health management. By exploring questions like whether someone can handle their finances or knows who to contact when unwell, the cards help assess the risk of self-neglect or financial abuse.
Used in one-on-one sessions, the cards provide insight into memory gaps and cognitive function, enabling caregivers or professionals to develop tailored support plans. They are suitable for both single-use assessments and ongoing evaluations to monitor cognitive changes over time. Designed for early intervention, the cards can help detect emerging memory issues, whether temporary or progressive, and guide appropriate care strategies. Whether for concerned family members or professionals working with clients, Care and Capacity cards offer a structured, accessible way to understand and support cognitive health.
